Hand Painted Type is a tear-dropping awareness campaign that points the need to recover hand-made publicity on Indian streets. I’ve seen in many places around the globe how dangerous can it the the homogenization of visual identity on the city due to economic costs. Images and lettering can also be endangered species!

What the guys here are asking is to make an ambitious register of painters around India and their ways to do a whole typo old-brush style. Later on, the image get converted into ttf or otf formats so any designer in the world can download it, use it and support local artisans to continue struggling against ugly vinyls. Isn’t this awesome? Share, share, share!

    And here, the video:

Camera Obscure with Abelardo Morell: He covered all his windows with black plastic in order to achieve total darkness, he then cut a small hole in the same black plastic material, an image of the outside scenery was reflected directly on the opposite wall, but it was upside-down.

Pencils and brushes are covered in mourning today with the sad -but inevitable- news that Ronald Searle died recently. His line-work was an important reason that many of us felt in love with drawing and cartooning. Might his characters and clever situations remain with us and the culture forever. Read his full obituary here.

    IVANA KLICKOVIC

Rather than a methodical photographer, I imagine Ivana Klickovic as a master of the spontaneous snaps. Always with her camera, she doesn’t waste any frame… she waits patient until the colors, the composition, the people is distributed and then, with her fast finger, she catches everything without presumption, just like that. Precise and poetic images of her quotidian.

On a sandy island in Abu Dhabi Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan has inscribed what is in effect the biggest graffiti tag the world has ever seen.

The name Hamad is clearly seen from space.

I was checking the other day the recent paintings done by Grace Weinrib and I was very pleased to find her series of tropical whims. Comparing this series with her vast portfolio, I prefer them better over the interactions with the comics characters, since find this artistic search much more intuitive and interesting. Very well done!
