  • Yesterday was the end of a project called itinerarios.org that involves dance, street and Internet in north Mexico. During a week we’ve been proposing a series of actions on the city and coordinating civil and artistic organizations to create ways of appropriation of the public space. Each action has its correspondent part on the site that can be displayed as animation, videos or pictures. Besides the wonderful collaboration of the group of dancers, the project involved many other artists like Sara Ovalle, Hugo Estrada and Christophe Aslanian. Have a look and tell us what do you think about it!

I have spend a very good hour checking all the works made by Bohyun Yoon and considering his vision of body and clothing in our society, so the fragmentation of our perceptions and his very ingenious performances. There’s plenty of interesting videos as well to watch!

Just checking some images of Korant traditional mask carnival in Ptuj, Slovenia. They wear this costumes and extravagant masks to chase away the winter and welcome the spring. I guess I have an apointment for next year, then!

    RODRIGO GARCIA

Rodrigo Garcia is one of the most well-known author in contemporary theater with a strong interest on installation, design and video art. This Argentinian-Spanish director just presented a performance on Venetian streets that can not been unseen: NON RICONOSCERE LA NOSTRA NATURA (Something like Not recognize our own nature) which is a sort of humorous inner prision or jail-portable representation, based on Philip Guston paintings and customized by Bojana Nikodijevic. The performance is defined better in artist’s own words:

    TOMÁŠ ŠOLTYS

The performance over the Danube that Tomáš Šoltys just made in Bratislava is causing a lot of commotion, specially because the IIHF World Championship there. I really find in this piece a perfect balance between provocation (not to the Hockey event, but in general) and poetic resolution. He built a small boat made out of ice and wood and put himself on it as a kind of monument of the purity and humanity. I can’t stop to think in Friedrich’s Wanderer above the Sea of Fog. That good I think Šoltys is.

    VIGDIS STORSVEEN

This is the work that I really like to face, since I find a very attractive challenge in its purity. Simplicity and beauty are undoubtedly concepts related with Storsveen’s pieces and what is important to appreciate in the work of this Norwegian artist, it’s a clear integration between art and life.

Strosveen takes that very fragile boundary and place the public in front of the growing beans as a methapore of many things, always with a very strong feeling of sincerity and humility. She integrates herself in her own work, she does as well with the public and the people who interact with her changing pieces.
