  • For his exuberant and fantastic lines, Edgar ‘Bacalao’ Argaez has a privileged place on my list of favorite artists. Not very often you can see such a well coordinated rhythm of the forms and organic compositions. Is almost like he would dance all around the space, inviting us to join his uncontrollable yet precise black flow. From his wide production, I prefer his street interventions and pretty much this one called ‘Pimp my ruins’ which I can’t avoid to think on it as a personal sanctuary of contemplation.

I remember watching this documentary once when I was a kid. More than the final painting, those images of the artist working in a huge space sticked to my mind: experimenting, touching the materials, walking around the painting. Ever since then I hear his name, the idea of an artist comes up to my mind. Not Renaissance, no Romanticism nor Contemporary. Tàpies.

And later, in Barcelona, in front of his paintings, his posters and sculptures, I confirm more and more to myself than the almost only way of freedom -in more than one sense- is the one he took. A very sad day today, when world missed Antoni Tàpies.

    This is so amazing.

Lu Cong presents figurative portraits with an infinite sadness-glance. His paintings are timeless but with a strong consciousness of our time, ready for the patient viewer that wants to perceive behind the appearances.

All the worlds, all the landscapes. There are many things I don’t know about tomorrow’s land, but I almost imagine it as the fictional environment paintings of Melanie Authier, where ferocity and beauty splashes everything like a fountain.

This very complete collection of images done on streets by artist Escif have change a little something on me. I’m amazed for his use of physical space, how that can change the composition or distribution of the art. Not that I haven’t seen it on street artists before. Is just that this is very good. Besides, there’s a subtle wink to a collective conciseness and a clever sens of motion that makes it very fun!

I held my breath almost the entire length of this video. I love the drama of the editing and the mood that they built in very short time. GERHARD RICHTER PAINTING (2011) by Corinna Belz. His retrospective -Panorama- is up at Tate Modern until January 8th.
